A Havre man being held in the Hill County Detention Center is facing charges including 31 felony counts related to engaging in sexual intercourse with a minor.
Kristopher Alan Chapman, 33, was being held in the detention center this morning on a total of $177,500 bond on that and other cases
A court document says that on or about Dec. 10, a person went to the Havre Police Department and said Chapman had been having sex with a pre-high-school-aged girl.
Chapman is on adult probation and is a registered violent offender.
The document added that Havre Police Department and the Hill County Sheriff's Office had received multiple reports in October and November stating that Chapman had been having inappropriate contact with a minor.
Officers contacted Chapman's probation officer and started to investigate the case, the document said. Officers went to Chapman's residence, where they found a pre-high-school-aged girl hiding in Chapman's closet.
Officers seized Chapman's cellphone, and after obtaining a warrant to search it, found at least 19 photographs ranging from Nov. 10 to Dec. 7, which depicted the girl partially or completely nude. Officers also found at least five videos of sexual acts, which officers were able to identify Chapman by his voice and visible tattoos.
Chapman's charges include six felony counts of sexual intercourse without consent, 24 counts of felony sexual abuse of children, one count of felony indecent exposure, He also faces a revocation of the defered sentence imposed by district court in a 2015 assault with a weapon.
Chapman is scheduled for arraignment - in which defendants usually enter their initial plea - Monday, Feb. 3, at 9:30 a.m.
