North Star holds spelling bee

North Star Schools held its spelling bee the morning of Jan. 14 in the high school gym.

Participants included Sydney Rigg, Camden Jackson, Hedi Kessel and Kinzie Campbell from the fifth grade; Parker Hansen, Joshua Campbell, Kaden King and Adrina Sterner from the sixth grade; Madelyn Myers, Ecko Fraser, Brodie Jackson and Kali Sargent from the seventh grade, and  Emily Conner, Tristen Swick, Xander Searles and Christopher Burkhartsmeyer from the eighth grade.

North Star School spelling bee winners were, first place, Emily Conner; second place, Sidney Rigg; third place, in a tie, Brodie Jackson and Xander Searles, and fourth place and alternate for the Hill County Spelling Bee, Camden Jackson. 

The Hill County Spelling Bee will be held in February.

Organizers thanked the moderator, Rachel Humphreys, and to the judges, Linda Lett, Scott Froehlich and Bart Hawkins.
