MSU-N's Short reaches Missouri Valley podium

Even though the Montana State University-Northern Lights are dealing with quite the injury big right now, they still put their best foot forward at one of the toughest NAIA regular season tournaments in the country.

Northern was in Marshall, Missouri Friday and Saturday for the annual Missouri Valley Invitational, where the Lights scored 35 points and placed junior Chase Short at 174 pounds.

Short finished fifth for the Lights at 174, after reaching the quarterfinals before falling to defending national champion Lucas Lovorn of Baker. He battled back to place fifth overall.

Northern senior Rob Pair also won two matches at 125 pounds, Landon Bailey won twice at 133, while Nick Kunz won once at 133. Freshman Lane Paulson also scored a win at 149 while Tony Evans missed placing by just one match at 157 pounds, going 3-2 on the weekend. Freshman Nakoda Siegel made his Northern debut at 165, going 3-2 as well.

Northern gets right back to tournament action this Saturday at the Tyler Plummer Classic in Dickinson, North Dakota.
