4-H members of the Bear Paw Beavers 4-H Club have been busy with community service projects.
The club members' first project was to help a local family during the Christmas season. To help financially with the goal of buying presents for the family members and food for a Christmas dinner, a club leader saw a blurp in the Havre Daily News encouraging non-profit groups to apply for a Adopt-A-Family grant through the Town Pump Charitable Foundation. The 4-H club was awarded $500 to help a local family through the Adopt-a-Family program through the local Salvation Army. A family was selected with the help of Trina Crawford from the Salvation Army. Then, the 4-H members gathered, shopped, and wrapped the gifts for each of the family members. They also purchased food items to help make their Christmas dinner a special one.
The 4-H members also decided to expend some of their club funds and purchase dog food and cat food for the Havre Animal Shelter as a Community Service Project. They purchased five bags of dog food and five bags of cat food from CHS, which gave them a deal on the cost. The 4-H members delivered the bagged food to Havre Animal Control Officer Pete Federspiel, who said he was very appreciative of the donation.
