Havre’s Salvation Army is less than two-thirds of the way to it’s goal as of Wednesday — and only has about one week left— in its annual Red Kettle Campaign.
“We are still behind on goals. My regular volunteers who step up are fantastic,” Havre Salvation Army Social Services Director Trina Crawford said. “… I’ve also gotten a couple of new volunteers.”
She said the Red Kettle Campaign has raised about $18,000 of its $32,000 goal. She added that the total they have recorded does not include the online collection or phone donations. The online donations and phone donations will be recorded in January, she said.
The campaign is the Salvation Army’s biggest fundraiser throughout the year, with the money raised going directly back to the community and it allows the Salvation Army to provide its emergency services throughout the year.
Some of the services the Salvation Army provides is assistance for fire and disaster victims, eviction prevention, emergency lodging, emergency transportation and school supplies.
Crawford added that the Salvation Army is still looking for volunteers, especially for the North 40 Outfitters location.
The bell ringers do two-hour shifts and weekend shifts are available.
People who are interested in volunteering can sign up at http://volunteer.usawest.org or email Crawford at [email protected] .
People can also call the Salvation Army at 265-6411, ext. 107, or call 301-0476, which is the direct line to the person who is coordinating the bell ringers.
People can also now donate to the Red Kettle Campaign through iPay or Google Pay, with every kettle having a QR code people can scan on their phones. People can also donate online through the Salvation Army website at https://havre.salvationarmy.org .
“We are very grateful for what (the community) do for us and what they do and how they are, not only with stepping up to volunteer but also the giving,” Crawford said.
She added that the Adopt-A-Family program and the Salvation Army’s annual Giving Tree program has officially closed, but people can still drop off gifts at the Salvation Army’s Emergency Services Office, Walmart or Gary & Leo’s Fresh Foods.
