This journey’s hard, we’re struggling on since our dear one has left.
To come to terms with this life change — it’s hard, we do our best.
To suffer is just part of life; it helps build strength and hope;
Plus character and endurance, it helps us all to cope.
And we who grieve, we carry on and trust our Lord above.
Though we’re tearful, we know God cares and sends us down His love.
Each one of us handles our grief in our own unique way.
We share with friends — this common ground, that helps us through our day.
When we count days, or months or years, we know our tears will flow.
We mark the time our dear one left; their death was such a blow.
Our friends sorrow just like we do, yet grief’s a solo job;
Though people share their own heart aches, it makes our own heart throb.
We know, dear Lord, You grieve with us, Your love does fill our heart.
And someday when You come for us, we never more will part!
It is with hope, though tearful one, that we do carry on,
But — when You come to take us home, we’ll never be withdrawn.
Encouragement(1) is what we need, reminders of God’s love.
We struggle on, but not alone, our hope comes from above.
