An absconder from justice led law enforcement on a high-speed chase through Havre before he was apprehended Tuesday night after the vehicle he was in crashed into a house, and law enforcement is still looking for two other suspects.
Franklin T. Caplette of Box Elder, 35, was being held this morning on charges of obstruction of a peace officer with a $335 bond, possession of dangerous drugs with no bond and a federal probation hold with no bond.
A press release from the Hill County Sheriff’s Office said their office was contacted by Rocky Boy Police Department Tuesday at 7:33 p.m., and advised to be on the lookout for a white 2007 Ford F-150.
Rocky Boy informed the sheriff’s office that one of the occupants of the vehicle was an “absconder from probation and parole with a no-bond pick up and hold,” and the vehicle was possibly in the Havre-Hill County area.
Hill County deputies located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop near Washington Avenue and 14th Street West, the release said, but when deputies were approaching the vehicle the vehicle sped off.
Deputies were led on a high-speed pursuit through the Havre area and deputies lost sight of the vehicle near the 300 Block of Seventh Avenue North.
The release added that deputies located the vehicle again after a short time on the 600 Block of Fifth Street North after the vehicle had crashed into a house. The occupants of the house were uninjured, and the suspects fled the scene on foot.
Caplette was later located and arrested without incident, the release said.
“Two other suspects have been identified but remain at large,” it said. “There is no immediate danger to the public at this time.”
