Annual NAC kicks off the season in Great Falls

It won't be in Havre, but the Northern Native American Classic is once again tipping off the new high school basketball season.

The 2019 NAC, which will feature a host of Hi-Line teams, will be held Friday and Saturday at the CMR Fieldhouse in Great Falls. Local squads from Box Elder, Rocky Boy, Harlem and Hays-Lodge Pole will all play season-opening games in Great Falls this weekend, starting with a boys game between rival Rocky Boy and Box Elder Friday at 12:30 p.m.

The NAC will also feature the St. Ignatius Bulldogs, the Heart Butte Warriors, Two Eagle River, Kainai, Alberta, and the Browning Junior Varsity squads. Class C Dodson is also expected to compete.

The two-day hoops extravaganza will be played in two gyms with five games Friday in the CMR Fieldhouse and five more in the new CMR Auxiliary Gym. Saturday will feature six more games in the field house and four more in the auxiliary gym as well.

The NAC starts at 12:30 p.m. Friday and runs through Saturday night in Great Falls. The NAC is expected to return to the Armory Gymnasium in December of 2020.
