BNSF donates $75K to teach STEM at Boys & Girls Club

BNSF Railway Foundation presented a $75,000 check to the Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line Saturday at the Festival of Trees fundraiser.

"The BNSF Foundation was pleased to donate $75,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line," BNSF Railway Public Affairs Director Maia LaSalle said this morning. "This donation will help fund STEM programming at the club."

Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line Club Director Tim Brurud said the money will be used to improve science, technology, engineering and math programming at the club.

"We will be increasing staffing levels for the program, and purchasing supplies and equipment as well," he said.

The money from the BNSF Foundation is a three-year agreement for $25,000 per year for a STEM capacity building.

"We are really excited to provide this programming at the club because we know how important STEM is for future careers," Brurud said.

"BNSF relies heavily on science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and we are happy to partner with the Boys & Girls Club to support enhancing educational opportunities in the community," LaSalle said.
