Hill County Community Foundation announces 2019 grant recipients

The Hill County Community Foundation is pleased to announce six grant recipients for the 2019 grant cycle. The HCCF 2019 grant cycle was very competitive with the committee having received 14 applications for funding. This year’s grantees include CASA of Hill County, the Havre Main Street Group, Stone Child College, North Star Hingham Pool, Shakespeare in the Parks and the Van Orsdel SOS Committee. Each grantee was awarded for their respective projects in one of three HCCF focus areas: basic human needs, arts and culture and community beautification.

CASA of Hill County will be using their grant funds to provide basic needs to children in Hill County who enter the foster care system as a result of abuse or neglect. Items are delivered within the first few days of placement to alleviate stressors on the child and foster family.

The Havre Main Street Group’s grant project involves the creation of an eye catching, colorful work of art for the public to see and enjoy in a downtown “Art Alley.”

Stone Child College, in collaboration with the Cultural Committee on campus, will use their grant funds to host a ceremonial ribbon skirt class in efforts to preserve the traditions of the Native American people for future generations. The class will be done in anticipation of the upcoming Sun Dance Ceremony in the spring of 2020.

In collaboration with the North Star School District, the North Star Hingham Pool will be using their grant funding to make much-needed improvements to their pool which is widely used by Hill County Hi-Line residents.

Shakespeare in the Parks, in partnership with the MSU Foundation, will use grant funds to help sponsor a summer production on the campus.

The Van Orsdel SOS Committee will be stocking their pantry, which provides emergency food and supplies to community members in need.

HCCF is an affiliate of the Montana Community Foundation, whose mission is to cultivate a culture of giving to empower Montana communities to flourish. As a community foundation, HCCF helps Hill County through the power of permanently endowed funds. HCCF welcomes donations and awards the annual interest of the endowment fund to local projects as grants.

Since 2005, HCCF has granted out jmore than $29,000 to fund projects in Hill County. Thanks to community support and proceeds raised at the HCCF annual event “Spring for the Arts,” over $15,000 of that total has been granted out over the past four years alone.

As the fiscal year comes to a close, HCCF seeks donations from the public to grow the HCCF endowment. As the endowment grows, more money will be reinvested into the Hill County community. All of the 2019 grant applicants were deserving, and HCCF hopes to be able to fund even more projects next year.
