Tree lighting set for Saturday in Town Square

Havre Area Chamber of Commerce hosts the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony taking place at Town Square Saturday beginning at 5 p.m.

Santa will be arriving that afternoon around 5 to 5:30 p.m. depending on the speed of his sleigh, Havre Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Julea Robbins said.

Before the tree lighting, the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors annual Cookies and Milk with Santa event starts at the Havre Eagles Club at 4:30 p.m.

“They get to eat cookies and drink milk with Santa and there is a book giveaway. It’s a lot of fun,” she said. “Parents are asked to stay with their children at that — don’t just drop and go.”

After Cookies and Milk, Santa will walk with the children to Town Square to begin the tree lighting.

Free tickets will be given out at the tree lighting to children for prize baskets. Children can put their ticket into a bucket for the chance to win prizes from around town in thr drawing.

Baked goods and hot chocolate will be provided by organizations and businesses as part of the event, she added, and the Havre High School choir will sing holiday-themed songs at the ceremony, as well.
