Havre High School Spanish Club is giving people a chance to make an escape to help the club with an escape of its own.
The club is traveling to Peru in June.
Havre High School Spanish teacher and Spanish club advisor Jill Cammon said she has 11 students coming on the trip. They will be gone for 10 days, traveling to Machu Picchu, Cuzco, Lima and the Amazon. The trip includes plans for zip lining in the Sacred Valley of the Incas in the Andes. They will also be visiting a Quechua village to do about eight hours of service, she added.
“This trip is designed to help the students experience international travel, use their Spanish-speaking skills, visit different cultures, try new foods and adventures, see ancient sites and give of their time and effort to improve the lives of others,” Cammon said.
The club is running an escape room, located in the Anthony Cammon State Farm office building at 115 Fourth Ave. W. Suite 100, as a fundraiser for the trip.
“Games are set up by appointment, usually Friday evenings 5 and 7 p.m. or Saturday 4 and 6 p.m.,” Jill Cammon said.
She said Valley Furniture loaned the club some items to use in the room.
She said some students, parents and teachers worked together to create the escape room coming up with puzzle and lock ideas, designs and decoration.
People interested in participating in the escape room can message the Havre Spanish Club on its Escape Room Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Havre-Spanish-Club-Escape-Room-11346023005222 to set up a time.
The cost is $60 per group with up to eight participants with all the proceeds going to the students’ travel. The participants of the escape room can also choose a student or students to sponsor when they play the room.
“This is a fun activity for friends, family or co-workers. It requires problem solving, communication and creativity,” Cammon said. “The room is not scary or confining and appropriate for all; however, puzzles are geared for middle school and up.”
