Obituary - Gordon W. 'Roach' Cochran

Gordon W. "Roach" Cochran, 54, passed away on November 17, 2019.

A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 24, 2019, and his wake service will continue until his funeral service, which will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 25, 2019, all at the Fort Belknap Community Center. Burial will follow in the Fort Belknap Agency Cemetery.

Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

Roach was born August 2, 1965, in Fort Belknap to Kenneth "Sonny" and Myrna (Flying) Cochran. He was raised at 3 Mile, attending school in Harlem and Havre. Following his school years, he worked as a firefighter, laborer, ranch hand and wood hawker. In 1985, Roach and Sharon "Cher" Goldsmith Cochran began their lives together, and together they had four children. He loved working, and caring for his wife and children.

Roach was a true artist who excelled at drawing, leatherworking, painting and woodburning. He enjoyed breaking horses, and was a Golden Gloves Boxer in his younger years. He loved to ride to Snake Butte for time alone.

Roach was preceded in death by his parents, Sonny and Myrna Cochran; his siblings Marjorie, Kathy, Steve, and Kenny Cochran, and Marilyn Black Tongue; and his special grandparents Ervin and Dora Flying.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Goldsmith of Fort Belknap; children, Walter "Gunner" (Lynell), Crystal "Rabbit" (Kyle Main), Chelsey "Baby Roach," and Israel "Izzy" Cochran, all of Fort Belknap; 10 grandchildren; siblings Audrey (Dewayne) Tincher of Fort Belknap, Wesley (Veronica) Cochran of Harlem, Aaron (Michelle) Cochran of MI, Melinda Cochran of Havre, Connie (Robert) Johnson of Fort Belknap, Preston Black Wolf of Great Falls, Michelle Cochran of WA, and Amber Bear of Fort Belknap; aunt Carol Doney of Zortman; uncles Sonny Boy Flying and Charlie Piapot; grandmother Roberta Big Knife; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
