Peyton Brown, Havre High Volleyball
The Havre High volleyball team had a big season, including finishing fourth at last weekend's Class A state tournament in Bozeman. And a big reason why the Ponies were successful was the play of senior setter Peyton Brown. Brown, who is also a softball standout at HHS, started every match for the Ponies this season, and in Havre's five-set win over Columbia Falls, which gave the Ponies fourth place, she had a huge 24 assists. Brown was also named Eastern A Second-Team All-Conference for the Ponies this week.
Chris Burns, Big Sandy Football
The Big Sandy Pioneers made a great run to the Six-Man semifinals for the second straight year. And while that run came to an end at the hands of Jordan for the second year in a row, the Pioneers' got that far because of the help of Chris Burns. Burns scored four touchdowns in three playoff games for the Pioneers, including a nine-yard TD against the Mustangs Saturday in Jordan. Burns was also a standout on defense for the Pioneers, and will surely be a big help to the Big Sandy basketball team this winter.
