Star Blue Pony offensive linemen Kasee Henderson commits to play for the Lights
It has been quite the year for Havre High senior athletes thus far. Kyndall Keller signed with the University of Montana women's basketball team, senior Jessa Chvilicek signed with the Montana State University-Northern Skylights and now, senior Kasee Henderson has verbally committed to the MSU-Northern Lights football team.
The signing day for Henderson has not happened yet, but that day will come and when it does, it will be an exciting day for Henderson. The Blue Pony lineman has made quite the name for himself, especially with his size and strength. The Lights will certainly be glad to have a player like Henderson on their squad.
On top of that, Henderson has a lot of love for his hometown and the Northern program.
"I chose Northern because of my hometown, man," said Henderson. "I've always wanted to be a Light. I couldn't see myself anywhere else. I love the coaches and I hope they love me."
There's definitely a buzz about the lineman. Not only will the Lights acquire a great local talent, but a great character, as well. It has been one big ride in Henderson's high school career.
Henderson has been a big component of the Havre offensive line for some time. He has been a potent player and has had some big highlights. Henderson enjoys the physicality of the game and thrives off the atmosphere. Not only that, but Henderson had two blocked PAT against Dillon in the Class A semifinals.
The verbal commitment to Northern is definitely exciting for the Lights, but HHS head coach Ryan Gatch is excited to see Henderson move on to play for MSU-N.
"He's a hard worker, man," said Gatch. "He's a guy that's fought his way through the trenches and is used to trying to build a program. Real excited about Kasee's future and being able to watch him, follow him along to his college career. To verbally commit to Northern is an awesome thing for our community, for Northern and for a Frontier player of that caliber."
Henderson had many other Frontier Conference offers and even one from Dickinson State, but the young lineman with so much potential, wished to stay local.
Even if the ink has not touched the paper, there is a lot of anticipation to see Henderson sign his name on the dotted line. Henderson was considered by many to be one of the top offensive line recruits in all of Montana, so MSU-N head coach Andrew Rolin is grateful to hear Henderson has verbally committed to the local program.
"This is a kid that we've recruited for two years now," said Rolin. "We've built a strong relationship with him. He's obviously a local guy and is at the top of the ranks at an offensive line standpoint in terms of who we're recruiting. We're excited from that aspect, and I think it's pretty neat that he's from Havre High School and he wants to stay home. It's a testament to our staff and what we're building here."
