Northern's Allison Tigert to run at NAIA national championships

For the second time in the last three years, the Montana State University-Northern women's cross country team will be represented at the national meet.

Northern freshman Allison Tigert found out Tuesday night that she has received an at-large berth to the NAIA national championships, which will be run next weekend in Washington.

Tigert becomes just the second Skylights to ever compete at nationals. Former Havre Blue Pony and current Northern senior Rachel David raced in the 2017 national championships.

At last Friday's Frontier Conference Championships in Billings, Tigert ran a 19:39.70 to finish in 11th place for the Skylights, and just outside of automatic qualifying. However, Tigert earned an at-large bid into the race and was the only Frontier Conference runner to receive one on the women's side.

Tigert is a freshman from Vacaville, California, majoring in pre-nursing. Her finsh at last week's Frontier meet was her top finish of the season, which was perfect timing. As a team, the Skylights finished fifth overall in Billings.

Tigert will now get ready for the NAIA championships which will be run Nov. 22 in Vancouver, Washington.
