Jack was born February 10, 1949, in Havre to Terrance and Mary (McKernan) Brady. He was raised in Havre, graduating from Havre Central High School in 1967. Jack attended the College of Great Falls for a few years before beginning his lengthy career at Great Northern Railroad, where he worked as an engineer, through its transitions to Burlington Northern and then BNSF, a total of 37 years.
Family and community were important to Jack. He was one of the founding members of the Railroad Pagers, and he was passionate about helping to build things for families to get together in the outdoors, such as the pavilion at First Lake, the Pagers Campground, and the Pavilion at Fresno. He was also a member of the Walleyes Fresno Chapter.
He enjoyed hunting, pack mule trips in the back country, rafting, and spending a great deal of time with his family. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, Linda, on cruises, trips to Costa Rica and Mexico, volunteering at backcountry Forest Service guard stations, and Salmon River float trips, to name a few. Jack enjoyed his "shop time" with his woodworking friends Jerry, Bob, and Clyde. Recently, they were working with Russian olive, making cribbage boards and clocks. He also liked his coffee group at PJ's and bargain hunting at garage sales with his brother Tom. Jack was quite a people person, and never met a stranger. He and his brother Tom were always building things to help his son, Brendan. Jack and Linda were full-time caregivers for their son Brendan with ALS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Mary Brady, and sister Kathy Brady.
Jack is survived by his wife Linda Brady of Havre; children, Brendan Brady of Havre and Amanda Brady (Steve Herrett) of Stanley, ID; grandchildren Avena and Marley; siblings, Doris Suek, Terry (Roberta) Brady, Jim (Mary) Brady, Marilyn Miner, Tom (Paula) Brady, Ann Marie (Randy) Robinson, and Patty (Martin) Alley; and numerous extended family.
