Police warn people to use care on icy streets

North-central Montana has experienced plenty of winter weather for the month of November, with a large amount of snowfall and subzero temperatures in the past week.

Havre Police Department and other emergency responders have reported a high number of vehicle crashes within that wrecks due to the icy road conditions, Havre Police Chief Gabe Matosich said.

Matosich said that because of the road conditions people should drive very carefully and slow down. He said people should keep in mind that if icy road conditions exist they should give more time for travel so they can travel at a safe speed.

“Slow down, pay attention and put away the devices, don’t distract from the driving,” he said.
