This last weekend couldn’t have gone any better for the Montana State University-Northern women’s basketball team. And after the Skylights won back-to-back games in the Armory Gymnasium, Mckenzie Gunter was honored by the Frontier Conference.
Gunter was named Frontier Conference Women’s Player of the Week. Gunter is a 5-5 junior guard from McCammon, Idaho. Northern went 2-1 for the weekend. At home, the Skylights beat No.10 Vanguard (Calif.) 68-56 and Dickinson State (N.D.) 82-45. In Missoula, Northern lost to the University of Montana 98-45 in an exhibition game.
Gunter averaged 13.7 points, four rebounds and four assists for the week. She was 14 of 28 from the field, 13 of 26 in 3-point field goals and a perfect 11 of 11 from the free throw line. Gunter scored a game-high 23 points to go with six assists in last Thursday’s win over Vanguard.
Gunter and the Skylights host Corban University Friday afternoon in the Armory Gymnasium.
