During the H. Earl Clack Memorial Museum Board monthly meeting Monday, the board planned and discussed the annual Dinosaur Christmas.
Dinosaur Christmas will be Saturday, Dec. 7, from 1 to 3 p.m. outside of the museum at the Holiday Village Mall. The event will be filled with activities including making gingerbread houses, decorating cookies, making ornaments and more Christmas projects for children.
The annual meeting for the museum foundation was two weeks ago and Board Chair Lela Patera said the turnout was fairly good and it was a good meeting including Vicki Clouse’s presentation on dinosaurs.
“The information we received was good and Vicki Rae Clouse did a really good presentation,” she said, adding that the board will see more of Clouse when they get more information about getting displays or merchandise related to Zuul into the Clack Museum.
Zuul is a dinosaur which is one of the most recent findings that was found near Havre and is currently curated at the Royal Ontario Museum
The dinosaur, a 20-foot-long plant eater with spikes on its body and a massive club on its tail, was given the name Zuul — Zuul curivastator, or Zuul destroyer of shins, for the club on its tail — due to a resemblance to the ugly dog-like creature Zuul in the 1984 film “Ghostbusters.”
Patera said that at the annual meeting the foundation raffled off a quilt raising $195, and added that the money will help with needs at the buffalo jump.
She said the board is also looking for more volunteers to help with tours and to keep things in order at both the museum and the Wahkpa Chu’gn Buffalo Jump.
People interested in volunteering can contact Patera at 265-8249.
The H. Earl Clack Memorial Museum will be closed Thanksgiving through Monday, Dec. 2, for to the holiday.
The H. Earl Clack Memorial Museum Board will hold its next regular meeting Monday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m. in Havre Inn and Suites.
