Hi-Line Volleyball: Chinook keeps rolling in the 6C

Hi-Line Volleyball Roundup

Most area volleyball teams will take a break this weekend, but that means last week and next week are big as the season draws closer to district tournament play.

Last Thursday, the Chinook Sugarbeeters kept a firm hold of first place in the 6C East standings with a sweep of Hays-Lodge Pole in Chinook. The Beeters won by scores of 25-7, 25-7 and 25-7. Delaney Kellam had 13 kills and one block for Chinook, while Bree Swanson had seven aces and six digs.

Last Thursday was also a big one for the Harlem Wildcats, as they knocked off Malta in five sets for the second time this season. Harlem fell behind after a 22-25 loss in the game but won the second set 25-21. Malta came right back to win the third set, but the Wildcats responded by winning the fourth set 25-17. And in the decisive fifth set, Harlem won 15-12, capping off a season sweep of the 2B rival M-Ettes.

Also Thursday, the North Star Knights, who are in second place, started a strong weekend by beating Valier in a non-conference match. The Knights then knocked off Big Sandy Saturday.

Saturday also saw Harlem suffer a tough loss to Glasgow in a battle for first place in the 2B. The Wildcats fell to the Scotties by scores of 25-12, 23-25, 25-19 and 25-21. Sarah Billmayer had nine kills for the Wildcats, while Aria Owens had 14 digs and three aces.
