Blue Ponies spike Cowgirls in Conrad

The Havre High volleyball team cruised to another victory Thursday night against the Conrad Cowgirls. The Ponies swept the Cowgirls by scores of 25-8, 25-10 and 25-12.

With a road win in Conrad, Havre added another win to its resume to enhance their chances to claim a key spot in the postseason. The powerful performance from the Blue Pony spikers was even better than their last match at home against the Cowgirls.

Havre High head coach Tamecia Jarvis and her team will definitely be in good spirits heading into their match Saturday against the Glendive Lady Devils.

Havre opened the match with a dominant first set. The Ponies held Conrad to just eight points. The Pony attack kept the Cowgirls at bay and allowed for an overwhelming game by Havre. HHS led the match 1-0.

The Ponies kept up their dominance going into the second set, only allowing Conrad to score two more points than the previous set. Havre’s consistency was a key factor in helping HHS on top in the match 2-0.

The Blue Pony team wasted no time in finishing the match in third set. Again, Havre allowed the Cowgirls to score two more points than the last set. The Ponies took a lot of knowledge from their last match against Conrad and utilized it well to sweep the Cowgirls 3-0.

The Blue Ponies kept Conrad’s game at a limit, too. The Cowgirls only had nine kills, 11 assists, 29 digs, two blocks and six aces. Throughout the match, Havre kept trucking and Conrad was not able to keep up.

Unfortunately, no stats were reported on the Havre side, but the score itself spoke volumes about the game the Ponies played on the road.

Havre’s next opponent will be a rematch against the Glendive Lady Devils, who swept the Ponies on the road last Friday in Glendive. The game will be a big test to see of Havre can stay ahead and in the race for the playoffs.

The Blue Ponies take to the court against the Glendive Lady Devils Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Havre High gymnasium.
