From Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks will host a wolf trapper certification class Oct. 19 in Great Falls at its Region 4 Headquarters, 4600 Giant Springs Road.
The free Saturday class will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is open to anyone 11 and older. Students should register on-line soon as spots may fill up quickly.
Certification is mandatory for anyone planning to trap wolves in Montana. Trappers who have successfully completed a wolf trapping course in Montana or Idaho do not need to retake the course.
Each course will be a comprehensive education session taught by FWP staff and experienced wolf trappers. The trapping portion will be taught by trappers who have considerable experience trapping wolves.
In addition to specifics on equipment and techniques, participants will learn about the history, ethics, management and regulations related to wolves and wolf trapping.
