As of Sept.1, Kathee Kalthoff became the new owner of the Havre Farmers Insurance Agency at 108 First St., Suite 4.
"I just wanted a change," Kalthoff said. "I met a very nice gentleman here back in 2015, and we have dated since then, so this was a wonderful avenue for me to move to Havre to accomplish that goal."
She added that there was an ad in the Havre Daily Newspaper about the sale of this agency, and her now fiancé Havre man Scott Thackeray encouraged her to start a new career. She said she answered the ad in April of this year and took on the new role the first of September.
Kalthoff was born in California then moved to Tucson, Arizona, in 1980, where she stayed till she moved to the Fairfield area in Montana in 2007.
She said attended the University of Arizona where she received a degree in accounting in 1992.
She added that before becoming the new owner of Farmers Insurance, she was a real estate broker with a speciality in farm and ranch rural properties, which she did up to July of this year.
She said after she moved to insurance, she had to attend a seven-week schooling that Farmers Insurance provided for training. Two of those weeks took place in Portland, Oregon.
"The degree in accounting has come into play, as well as my experience in real estate has been very helpful," Kalthoff said.
She said when she was a child her family was insured under Farmers Insurance, and added that it is funny to come full circle all these years later.
"I'm looking forward to being a very active member of the Havre community and to share the options that Farmers has," Kalthoff said. "I'm looking forward to growing it in policies and in the scope of what we can insure."
