Hi-Line Child Care Association is hosting "Musically Minded," presented by music educator and teacher trainer Jocelyn (Rice) Manzanarez at District 4 Human Resources Development Council Saturday, Sept. 28, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a cost of $35 which includes drinks, lunch, snacks and six hours of approved training.
Scholarships are also available. People can call Early Childhood Investment Team member Tina Thomas at 390-6619 for more information.
Montana state law requires licensed child care center caregivers to have 16 hours of annual training.
"We are bringing Jocelyn to Havre to do a workshop on music and bringing the joy back to teaching creating fun and meaningful circle times," Hi-Line Child Care Association president Debbie McCormick said.
The Hi-Line Child Care Association is a group of child care providers from the Hi-Line area who meet once a month and put on workshops, get together to brainstorm ideas and do things for kids in the community, McCormick said.
McCormick said circle time is just like preschool activities, story time, touching base on colors, numbers, learning songs and days of the week.
McCormick added that the Hi-Line Child Care Association likes to bring people to town to do fun hands-on workshops because doing the online trainings get really old. And HLCCA wanted to do something affordable.
Manzanarez is originally from Havre and graduated from Havre High School. She lives in the Seattle area where she puts on these workshops.
"I'm really looking forward to coming back and taking what I learned and what I found and bringing it back," Manzanarez said.
People with questions can call McComick at 265-7946.
Registration can be done on the Facebook event page http://www.facebook.com/events/236547670170770 or by calling McCormick.
Payments can be mailed to HLCCA 1145 Cleveland Ave., Havre, MT 59501.
