Hello Walk painting, part of Northern homecoming activities

Student organizations at Montana State University-Northern gathered together Tuesday at the Hello Walk steps on campus and painted the steps as as part of the celebrations during homecoming week.

"It is a way for our student organizations to show their support for the university," Director of Activities & Events Tammy Boles said.

Clubs that were involved include: Chi Alpha, mens and womens basketball, rodeo, nursing, Civil Engineering Technology, stockgrowers cross country, Post-secondary Ag Students, residence halls and Business Professionals of America.

Boles added that the hello walk started out as an art project for the students, but now has become a traditional event for many of the student organizations on campus.

"It is a traditional event for homecoming week enjoyed by many of our student organizations," she said.

Other events happening at Northern as part of homecoming week continue today when from 4:30 to 7 p.m. A dinner rally will be held for students in the food court on campus followed by the Skylights Volleyball game at 7 p.m. Thursday, the traditional Glow Run will take place with registration beginning at 8 p.m., in the student union ballroom.

"This has become another traditional event for homecoming where the community is invited to join us in our celebration," Boles said.

She added that the route this year will be the block around the campus, which is two miles, and that participants will receive a T-shirt and a glow necklace.

Friday is maroon and gold day to show off school spirit with Northern colors for everyone.

Northern's automotive technology program is hosting a Homecoming Car Show on Cowan Drive Saturday at 9 a.m. The cross country teams kick off its Battle of the Border at Prairie Farms Golf Course Saturday at 10 a.m.

And the week finishes off, with a MSU-N Lights versus Montana Tech football game at 1 p.m. at Blue Pony Stadium and the coronation of the Homecoming Court will be presented at halftime.
