The VFW Bear Paw Junior Rifle Club is starting its next season and is inviting youths interested in learning firearm safety and marksmanship to come in Monday, Sept. 30, and Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 6 to 9 p.m. to learn about the club.
The club has been operating in Havre for more than 60 years, and practices in the shooting range below the Havre Fire Department at 520 Fourth St. Mondays and Tuesdays from 6 to 9 p.m.
Shooters can sign up for different slots on those nights, with returning club members getting first choice on the slots
The shooters can earn ranks and awards from National Rifle Association for their marksmanship, and the club has created its own award for shooters who surpass the NRA top junior shooter award.
The club also competes, with some teams, earning national rankings.
To get to the range, after the door to the fire department on the corner of Fifth Avenue and Fourth Street and go down the stairs to the left.
