Pizza Hut fundraiser set for Thursday
Editor’s note: This version corrects the spelling of Anthony Borowiecki’s name.
Havre High School senior and Troop 1438 Boy Scout Anthony Borowiecki, 17, is raising funds at Pizza Hut Thursday for his Eagle Scout project working on the gazebo at Pepin Park.
“It’s just so many people use it and nobody’s really taking care of it,” Borowiecki said. “I figured that someone’s going to have to do this eventually.”
The project will include working on the gazebo’s deck and stairs and replacing its bench, which was removed because of vandalism, he said. All of the lumber and materials will be paid by himself and the funds he is able to raise. He added that he estimates the total project will be a couple of thousand dollars to complete.
He will be holding his second fundraiser for the project Thursday at Pizza Hut, he said. The fundraiser will be all day and 20 percent of each sale for dine-in and carry-out will be donated to the project. The first fundraiser he held was at Taco Johns earlier this summer, where he was able to raise about $600 dollars for his project. He said that he still has a long way to go and may be holding more fundraisers in the future, such as a car wash.
Borowiecki added that he is also looking for donations outside of his fundraisers, such as funding, supplies or food for the work parties. People interested in donating to Borowiecki’s Eagle Scout project can contact him at 390-6198.
He said he is also looking for volunteers. He said he still does a lot of work with his troop and will have some of the other scouts are volunteering, but more help is always appreciated. People can contact him for more information on how to get involved.
He said he has been thinking about doing the gazebo as his project for a while and hopes to either have it done before the winter or have it completed by next spring.
After he has completed his Eagle Scout project he still has a few merit badges to earn before he will be awarded the rank of Eagle Scout, he said. The last merit badges he has to earn are for family life, hiking, personal management and personal fitness.
Scouts have until the age of 18 to earn their Eagle Scout.
