Local fire departments fight two separate wildfires

Two separate fires were reported to fire departments Wednesday, one north of Havre and one north of Gildford.

Kremlin Rural Fire Department Chief Kody Peterson said that one fire was about four to five miles north of Gildford. He added that since he was not at the fire he could not provide any further comment.

No more information was available by print deadline this morning.

The other fire, St. Joe Rural Fire Department Randy Bessette said, was a single hay bale and some grass which was reported at about 9 a.m.

The fire was on someone’s private property a few miles north of Havre, he said, adding that St. Joe responded with one fire engine and quickly had the fire out. No cause for the fire was determined.
