Local Golf Report: Thanks to all who helped the HHS Invite

From Tee to Green

With the local golf season coming to a close, the From Tee to Green column will soon be over too. So, in the coming weeks, I'll probably be saying quite a few thank you's, and I'm going to this week as well.

I want to take a moment to recognize everybody who helped put on last week's Havre Invitational Golf Tournament. I won't probably be able to get you all in, but there are some folks I really have to mention, because they helped make my first Havre Invite as head coach of the HHS golf team a great success.

First, thanks to the entire crew at Prairie Farms. Thanks to Doug Sheppard and Barry Kato and to the entire grounds crew for having the course in such amazing condition. I know all of the visiting teams were very impressed with Prairie. Also, thank you to HHS activities director and my assistant coach Dennis Murphy. Murph does a great job running high school events, and golf tournament are no exception. Thanks also to his wife, Jean, as well as Mr. Norman and Mr. Haslem for helping with lunches. And thanks to all the parents who provided some amazing snacks and goodies for the kids.

Also, thanks to Robbie Gomke and Beaver Creek Golf Course for hosting more of our kids last Thursday as well.

If I missed anybody else, just know, I really appreciate everything you all did to make this year's Havre Invite so much fun.

Now, on to the local golf league playoffs.

This week marks then end of it all for three leagues in our area.

Men's league at Prairie Farms will wrap up this week, starting with tonight's semifinals between Korb Construction and Hole 19 and Patrick Construction and D.A. Davidson. Last week, Hole 19 bested Havre Ford and Wagner Plumbing, while my squad, Korb, took down Tire Rama and Michelob Ultra on one side of the bracket. On the other side, D.A.D. beat Rock Solid and B.A. Ranch, while Patrick Construction bested Myers Ranch and Valley Furniture.

Men's league at Beaver Creek Golf Course is also coming to the end of the season. In last Thursday night's semifinals, Gram's Ice Cream topped BCGC and New Concept Lawn defeated Triple Dog Brewery to reach Thursday night's championship match.

And finally, this Thursday night at Prairie Farms, the ladies will conclude their season with the championship match between Northern Montana Hospital and Independence Bank.

Reminders to all leagues, please send us your results, and if possible a photo of the championship team.
