Local Golf Report: Rotary Youth League wraps up

From Tee to Green

It's officially time for the local golf leagues to start winding down. In fact, postseason play actually begins this week.

Thursday night, the ladies at Prairie Farms Golf Course will get their 2019 playoffs underway. Last Thursday night was the final week of the regular season, with Prairie Farms earning high-team honors with 23.5 points. The team was composed of Sarah Spangler, Alysia Kato, Anna Toner and Theresa Diekhans. Spangler was low gross with a stellar 37, while Alicia Goodrich was low net with a 31.

Congrats to Independence Bank for capturing first place in the final regular season standings with 212.5 points. The playoffs start Thursday night with Independence Bank taking on Patrick Construction, Prairie Farms battling Double R, Scharfe, Kato & Co. versus Charlie's Heating and Air and DA Davidson taking on NMH.

The men's league playoffs are just one week away at Prairie Farms. Tonight and Wednesday will be the final night of the regular season.

Last Tuesday night saw Patrick Construction earn high team with 21.5 points. Kyle Sheppard was low gross with an even-par 36, while Jake Myers was low net at 29.5. Last Wednesday night saw DA Davidson and Master Sports shared high team with 23.5 points each, while Jeremy Jensen fired a 3-under par 33 for low gross. Chad Spangler was low net with a 30.5.

Patrick Construction stands in first place heading into the final Tuesday night of the season, while Michelob Ultra is on top of the Wednesday night standings. The top four teams from Tuesday night, not already qualified, and the top three teams from Wednesday night, not already qualified, will join the 16-team playoff field. The playoffs get underway next Tuesday night.

Last Thursday night in Beaver Creek Golf Course men's league, Chvilicek Farms scored high-team honors with 25.5 points. The team was made up of Alex Chvilicek, Chris Mattson, Patch Wirtzberger and Walynn Burgess. Kellen Malone shot an even-par 36 for low gross, while Justin Hawley was low net at 30.5.

Also wrapping up last week at Prairie Farms was the first annual Rotary Youth Summer League. And, personally, I'd just like to thank everyone who had a hand in getting it off the ground because it's a great idea and I've heard nothing but great things, and just how much the kids enjoyed it. So, job well done everybody.

As for results, Aden Moomey was first in the 200-yard division tournament, followed by Carter Spangler in second and Matt Huse in third. Shea Reber placed first in the 150-yard dvision and Brady Kueffler was second. Madison Reber was first in the 100-yard division, followed by Luke Stevenson and Ben Woodwick.

Great job kids.
