Havre Police Department

A caller at BNSF Railway reported at 8:52 a.m. Thursday that they had a 50-gallon spill of a hazardous material, but crews did not need assistance.

A bike was reported abandoned at a First Street business Thursday at 11:46 a.m.

A Lincoln Avenue caller reported Thursday at 4:05 p.m. that someone had given him counterfeit money.

A Thursday 8:27 p.m. call about a man passed out in the alley behind a First Street West business was referred to a service agency.

Hill County Sheriff's Office

Edward George Lavallie of Harlem, 63, was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence, after a caller on U.S. Highway 87 reported Thursday at 3:39 p.m. finding a white car in the ditch with someone inside of it. The jail roster lists the charge as Lavallie's seventh DUI and his bond as $50,000.

Havre Fire Department

Emergency medical personnel responded to five calls Wednesday, two of them for the same incident, and seven calls Thursday.

Firefighters responded to an alarm on the 2300 Block of Fifth Avenue Thursday at 6:08 p.m., which turned out to be a low battery in a detector. An earlier fire call Thursday is reported on Page 1 of today's newspaper.

Havre Animal Shelter

The Havre shelter this morning held one long-hair and two medium-hair 21-week-old kittens, six short-hair 5-week-old kittens and three medium hair 2-week-old kittens, all of unknown gender, one long-hair female 22-week-old kitten, two long-hair female cats, one medium-hair male cat, one medium-hair male 18-week-old kitten and one long-hair male 22-week-old kitten.

The shelter also held this morning a male shepherd dog, a female Labrador retriever dog, a female border collie 7-month-old puppy, a male Labrador retriever dog, a male mixed-breed 11-month-old puppy and a male German shepherd dog. The shelter was also housing two female and one male mixed-breed 4-week-old puppies.
