Kelly Veis named MCA Assistant Coach of the Year; Hi-Line coaches honored
Longtime Havre coach Kelly Veis received an outstanding honor at last week's Montana Coaches Association Clinic in Great Falls.
Veis received the MCA Assistant Coach of the Year Award. Veis is an assistant coach for Havre High head girls basketball coach Dustin Kraske and has helped the HHS girls to back-to-back state championships, and three titles in the last five seasons.
In 24 years at Havre Public Schools, Veis has coached basketball, volleyball and golf.
Kraske was also honored at the MCA Awards Banquet last week as Class A girls basketball Coach of the Year. It was the second straight year in which Kraske received the honor.
Also at the banquet, Chinook's Megan Molyneaux received a Ralph Halverson Scholarship. Molyneaux, who graduated from Chinook this past spring, competed in volleyball, basketball and track and field for the Sugarbeeters.
Former Box Elder head girls coach Joel Rosette was honored as Class C girls basketball Coach of the Year, while former Havre Blue Pony Eric Peterson received the honor for girls basketball in Class AA.
Molyneaux's parents, Paula and Matt, received 30-year Plaques for their longevity in the MCA, while North Star's Brian Campbell was honored for 21 years of service n the MCA.
Former Havre High head basketball coach Bob Lanning, who now resides in Billings, was honored with the MCA Distinguished Service Award.
The MCA also inducted the late Terry Bakken of Sheilds Valley, Paul Edwards of Columbus and current Great Falls High head boys basketball coach Bob Howard into its Hall of Fame during the banquet.
