National Health Center Week, hosted by Bullhook Community Health Center, begins Monday with events all week long through Saturday.
“The purpose of National Health Center Week is to draw attention, give out the message of what community health centers do and that we provide affordable health care in our communities.” Bullhook Community Health Center CEO Kyndra Hall said.
The week will kick off Monday with discounted sports physicals provided by the clinic for $25 all week long. The sports physicals are for middle and high school students, and for children up to 12 years old there will be free fluoride provided at Bulhook’s dental care facility. People can call 395-4305 to schedule an appointment.
Tuesday will feature Yoga in the Park at 6:30 p.m. in Pepin Park with fitness instructor Cortney Filler. Organizers recommended that participants bring their own mat if they have one. If the weather doesn’t cooperate the event will move to Bullhook.
Hall said the event is to get people out with a little exercise portion and to keep people fit and healthy.
Coffee and cookies will be available in the Bullhook waiting area for patients Wednesday to celebrate Patient Appreciation Day.
Thursday, the clinic will have their iPharm Care Van located in their parking lot from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. with free screenings. The free screenings include A1C checks, so those are one’s blood, glucose and diabetes levels check, lipid testing in relation to cholesterol, and Dexa bone screening for osteoporosis.
National Health Center Week wraps up with the fourth-annual Color Run Saturday. It begins at 10 a.m. in the Bullhook Community Health Center, 521 4th St., parking lot. The course is either 1 mile or 5 kilometers through Havre.
The theme for this year’s week is called Rooted in Communities.
Hall said Rooted in Communities is to show how Bullhook clinic is rooted in the community and how they are here to support their patients and wanting to be there for them.
“I think being able to show our patients how much we appreciate them because they are why we are here is probably my favorite part,” Hall said. “That is why I’m here is to help and able to provide these services.”
