Hoops For a Cause in Helena

Montana State University-Northern head women's basketball coach Chris Mouat has been a part of a very special basketball camp the last two summers, and now, he will do it again at Carroll College in Helena.

The third annual Hoops For a Cause Camp will take place Aug. 3 at Carroll's P.E. Center in Helena. The camp is open to boys and girls entering kindergarten through grade 4 and grades fifth through eighth with separate sessions for each. The camp is conducted by various coached players from around the Frontier Conference according to Mouat.

This year, the camp will benefit Jack Racicot. He was paralyzed from the neck down in a snowboarding accident in February. He recently completed an intensive rehab program in Utah. In May, Jack began a new, rigorous program at Neuroworx, a highly-rated outpatient rehab facility in Sandy, Utah. Jack and his Neurowrorx care team are planning for up to a year of aggressive movement and strength-focused work, and his expanses will be ongoing. One of Jack's biggest needs is a handicap lift van to transport him to his rehab sessions and doctor visits. Funds generated through the camp will hope go to the purchase of the van.
