Coffee Hound opened an additional coffee shop called 406 Roasting Company Café Wednesday morning located at 1415 First Street, Suite A.
"It is a neat location because it is almost like it has its own area code," Coffee Hound Owner Natalie Hannum said.
The coffee shop café will feature three roasts: Kenya, a dark roast; Mexican Chiapas, a medium roast; and Honduras, another medium roast. Other featured items at the new shop will be pastry treats, wraps, salads, sandwiches, rice bowls and more.
Hannum said she has a box of samples from all kinds of countries that she hopes to make plans for.
"I wanted to create a nice place that people could come, sit, enjoy their coffee and visit," Hannum said.
Hannum purchased Coffee Hound about four years ago and said she knew shortly into that she wanted to be a coffee roaster. The company has been roasting its own beans since March.
Prior to that, the staff members went to a training school for a few days to learn how to roast.
"When I go places I like to go check out coffee shops and I love the more local, the more artisan places that you know they make things from a small batch or that make their own coffee," Hannum said. "That is something I am trying to create here is something homemade and something small batch."
Later down the road, Hannum said, she plans on having a tasting room and an espresso bar.
Coffee Hound will continue to be open and both businesses are hiring.
406 Roasting Company Café will be open Monday through Friday at 6:30 a.m. to around 7 p.m. and will be open Saturday and Sunday with a slightly later open time.
The business opened Wednesday, but the official grand opening for 406 Roasting Company Café is to be determined, Hannum said.
