Cody Four Colors Memorial Bull Riding is a wild time once again
It's been an impressive couple of weeks along the Hi-Line for Harlem's T'Jay Allen. Two weeks ago, Allen captured the bull riding title at the Bear Paw Roundup PRCA Rodeo in Chinook.
But, he was nowhere near done.
On Friday night in Havre, Allen continued his hot streak on the Hi-Line by winning the long round of the third annual Cody Four Colors memorial Bull Riding event at the Great Northern Fair.
Allen scored 83.5 points and took home $837 on the bull Medicine Wheel Friday night. Allen a former Harlem wrestling and football standout, is having. a big summer on the bulls, and Friday night's ride in the long go put him in second place in the average at the Cody Four Colors event.
The Four Colors Memorial Bull Riding is a Central Stop on the Bull Riders Canada Tour, and while Allen didn't earn any BRC points in the event, several other riders did.
Denton Spiers of British Columbia scored the only qualified fide in the Purpose Vodka Championship Round Friday night, as he road The Don to a stellar score of 85.5 points. That was good enough to take the average over Allen and Fort Belknap's Colton Bishop, while picking up a check for $4,500 and 400 BRC points.
Bishop and Rimbey, Alberta's Dusty Glenn were the only other contestants to turn in qualified rides Friday night. Bishop rode John Player to 83.5 points in the long round, while Glenn, of Rimbey, Alberta, scored 78 points on Easy Money. Glenn also earned 280 points toward the current BRC standings.
The Cody Four Colors Memorial Bull Riding attracted a host of riders from the BRC, as well as many non-BRC contestants. But overall, with just four scores turned in Friday night, the rank and rowdy bulls wound up being the clear winners.
The Four Colors event will be back to the Great Northern Fair next summer, while the BRC continues on this summer, and will wind up with the BRC Finals VII Nov. 15-16 in Sylvan Lake, Alberta, with a total purse of $25,000 on the line.
