Cody Four Colors Memorial Bull Riding crashes the Great Northern Fair tonight
The world of Professional Bull Riding has become wildly popular, led by the actual PBR Tour.
Across America, and beyond, the PBR packs major sports arenas for its tour stops, and, the riders who compete, have become stars in their sport, just like stars of the NBA, Major League Baseball, and the NFL.
And just like the major sports in America, the PBR has a minor league, so to speak, and that tour has made Havre and the Great Northern Fair a popular stop.
Named the Cody FourColors Memorial Bull Riding, the event is a stop on the Bull Riders Canada Tour. And the third edition of the exciting event takes place tonight in the arena at the Great Northern Fairgrounds.
The event has become wildly popular with Havre and Hi-Line rodeo fans, and is an important stop for the BRC, starting with the inaugural event that was named 2017 Event of the Year.
But it's not just big for the fans, and for the BRC itself, it's an important ride for the competitors on the Bull Riders Canada Tour. That's because the Cody FourColors event is part of the Central Tour Stop on the BRC Tour, where points towards the BRC Finals are doubled. And the last two BRC Champions have competed in the Cody FourColors event so, like the fans, it's also a popular event for the bull riders too.
The riders competing in tonight's Cody FourColors event have been on tour with the BRC since the season began with the Hell on Hooves BRC in Rimbey, Alberta, back on March 23. There were 10 events in the spring, and last month, saw 13 more stops on the tour. July has had events in Bengough, Saskatchewan, Balzac, Alberta, Moosomin, Saskatchewan. Selkirk, Manitoba, and Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, leading up to tonight's stop in Havre.
Currently, Marcos Gloria of Brazil is leading the BRC season standings with over $17,000 earned so far. Gloria, who is expected to compete tonight in Havre, is also out in front of the Central Season Standings with 1,860 points, followed by Aaron Roy of Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan.
Of course, the bull riders aren't the only stars of the show tonight either. The BRC always has some of the top bulls in all of Canada, and in its mission statement, it says, the tour is dedicated to local venues, and local stock contractors, so expect to see some rank bulls and some exciting rides tonight.
The Cody FourColors Memorial Bull Riding, which starts at 7 p.m., will also be preceded by the Great Northern Stampede Longhorn Pre-Show at 6:30 p.m. All of the action takes place in the arena at the Great Northern Fairgrounds.
