Assistance available to make tiny tot regalia

People who are getting their kids age 6 and younger ready to compete in the tiny tots category of the Chippewa Cree Celebration powwow, Aug. 2-4, and the youth powwow, Aug. 1, are invited to the Box Elder Family Resource Center to make regalia.

The center will have materials and people on site to help make basic T-design ribbon dresses for girls and breech cloths and fringed capes for boys — from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday next week and Monday through Wednesday, July 29-31.

The designs for the girls and boys regalia are simple, said Youth Activities Coordinator ShoShana Saddler, and the goal is for people to be able come in and get their project done.

“The cool thing about it is we are a Family Resource Center, so we have games, books and movies to keep kids occupied while their parents sew,” she said, adding that they have snacks, as well.
