Hingham having fun zone on Independence Day

The Hingham community is holding a “Fourth of July Fun Zone” Thursday.

A poster posted online by Horinek Events says the events will be all day, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. with laser tag and a laser tag tournament in the former Hingham High School, a bouncy house, an obstacle course, crafters and vendors.

Laser tag costs $8 per person and the bouncy house is $5 per person, the poster says.

The event is just one of the community Fourth-of-July celebrations in the area, including Havre’s Independence Day Festival. That starts at noon in Pepin Park with a flag ceremony and singing of the National Anthem, with lunch — a burger and hot dog, beans, potato chips, watermelon and dessert with water or soda — served from 12:15 to 2 p.m.

Bands will perform during the festival and snow-cones will be available along with children’s activities, and, for the first year, nachos will be sold at a charge of $2.

A raffle table also is planned to be at the event.

The Martin family also is continuing its tradition of holding a celebration on the Fourth of July in Hays.

That starts with a horseshoe tournament at 8 a.m. followed by children’s games, a community barbecue, mud volleyball and mug tug-of-war and the Fitness Challenge obstacle course.

The Havre Jaycees fireworks diplay will start at dusk, about 10 p.m. at the Great Northern Fairgrounds. Spectators need to find parking in areas around the fairgrounds.
