Hansons selected for first featured yard for summer

Bullhook Blossoms Garden Club has announced its selection for the first featured yard of the summer, the home of Paul and Sue Hanson on the 600 Block of First Avenue.

The 100-year-old home was built for Max P. Kuhr and his family in 1919.

Paul Hanson said they have lived in the residence since 1986 and are the second owners of the building.

He, his wife and their grandson do all of the yard work, Hanson said.

He is a third-generation gardener, with his parents and grandmother Sylvia also avid gardeners.

Hanson said he enjoys garden therapy.

The well-groomed yard has two fountains, including a concrete fountain from Tri-Cities, Washington, and has many perennials and annuals planted.

The back yard features pink-and-white bleeding hearts and also has Montana bachelor buttons from the Missouri River, provided by a relative.
