It has been a busy week for softball at the Sixth Avenue Memorial Field, thanks to a pair of Havre Youth Softball Association tournaments being held there this week.
Tuesday night, the A League championship was held as Wolfers and Montana Country Boutique met for the city championship. Hi-Line Rental was also in the mix but lost to Wolfers in the semifinals to take third.
Wolfers and MCB met in the championship and were eventually forced into a winner-take-all affair for the league title. That was after Wolfers defeated MCB to force a second game in the double-elimination tournament. And with everything on the line, in the second meeting between the two teams Tuesday night, Wolfers walked away with a 12-2 victory.
Wolfers, coached by Steph Huse and John Shennum, won the league championship with a team of Molly Huse, Emery Davison, Keylee Kline, P.J. Morsette, Chloe Shennum, Morgan Simpson, Carolyn Thomas, Taizj Henry and Taylor Ball.
The second-place team, Montana Country Boutique was coached by Tera Verploegen and featured Eli Verploegen, Hannah Gingery, Katherine Greenwood, Kylie Greenwood, Lizzi Haney, Shelby Huston, Mallory Murray, Shea Reber, Alyiah Stiffarm and Bridgette Greenwood.
