Independence Bank promotes Wertheimer

Matt Wertheimer was recently promoted to senior vice president of lending at Independence Bank.

"Matt has been a top performer with Independence Bank and is a vital part of our senior management team," said Miles Hamilton, president and CEO at the bank. "His knowledge of our customer base combined with his outstanding commitment to their success will continue to benefit our customers and our institution. Matt brings a strong understanding of our local economy, together with extensive lending knowledge, to his new position."

As senior vice president, Wertheimer has a leadership role in the bank and will mentor other lenders in Havre and across our branch locations. He serves on several of the bank's management committees and continues to service an existing loan portfolio. Wertheimer has also been instrumental in developing the

credit analysis program at Independence Bank, a program focused on training new staff for future lending positions.

Wertheimer grew up on a family ranch in Utica, and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in agricultural business with a minor in economics from Montana State University in Bozeman. He joined Independence Bank as an agriculture and commercial lender in 2003. He is a 2013 graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School

Wertheimer is active within the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce, currently serving on the executive board. He enjoys spending free time doing various outdoor activities with family and friends.
