HELP Camp set for next week

Havre Encourages Long-Range Prevention — HELP — Committee is inviting youths to come to its annual HELP Camp next week.

Registration is still open for the camp, running June 25 through June 27, for students going into fifth through eighth grades.

The camp will be at Camp Kiwanis in Beaver Creek. The kids will spend three days learning in workshops, playing games and meeting new friends. The theme for this year’s camp is At The Movie.

“Food will be provided. We will bring our cook from the club and have a full-service kitchen up at the camp,” Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line Director Tim Brurud said.

Kids will be divided into small groups with team names related to the theme. For example, actors, producers, directors and more that will attend these workshops. The type of workshops that each team will go through is physical activity, mental health, bullying prevention and team building problem solving.

“For years, the problem-solving was kind of my deal, and it was just fun to go through. It is amazing who you will see pop up as a leader. A lot of the times it is not who you expect it to be,” Brurud said.

HELP Camp celebrates 30 years this year and Saturday the Boys & Girls Club will host an alumni reunion BBQ from 4 to 7 p.m. at the club.

Registration for camp is on the Boys & Girls Club’s website at http://www.bgchi-line.net and people can register at the camp as well.

The cover charge for the camp is $50 and scholarships are available.
