The Rotary Youth Golf Camp is almost here, and if you're a young golfer, it shouldn't be missed.
The camp, put on by teaching professionals Jimmy Kato and Doug Sheppard, as well as many quality instructors, is a very beneficial program for anyone wanting to learn, or enhance their golf game. It's also one of the only camps of its kind in our area, so I strong recommend signing up.
This year's Rotary Youth Golf Camp runs June 25-27 at Prairie Farms Golf Course. For more information, contact the Pro Shop.
Last Saturday at Prairie Farms, the annual Natalie Patrick Foundation Tournament was held, and the sold-out tourney once again was a big hit. With more than 20, four-person scramble teams, scores were good.
First place went to Larson Farms, while Wagner Plumbing was second and Waddell & Reed was third. Congrats to all the winners, and everyone who participated.
Meanwhile, last week at Prairie Farms saw the first half the men's league season come to an end. Wagner Plumbing won the first half of Tuesday night league with 140.5 points, while Master Sports took first Wednesday night, with 155.5 points. Rock Solid, Cowan & Sons and Patrick Construction also qualified for the playoffs from Tuesday night, as did Havre Ford, HUB Insurance and Korb Construction on Wednesday night.
Last Tuesday saw Wagner earn high-team honors with 23 points. The team was composed of Dan Kiederowski, Russ Earl, Greg Baltrusch and Shawn Keeley. Jeremy Jensen was low gross with a 1-under 35, while Steve McLain was low net with a 33.5.
Last Wednesday night had Korb and Master Sports tie for high team with 20 points apiece. Korb (my squad) was composed of Kyle Miller, Mike Erickson, Mike Kellam and Scott Miller, while Master Sports was made up of Dave and Doug Sheppard, Barry Kato and Jim Kirkpatrick. Jeff Jensen shot a 1-under 35 for low gross, while Mike Erickson was low net with a 31.
In women's league last Thursday night, Scharfe, Kato & Co. took high team with 26 points. The squad was composed of Carrie Kato, Liz McIntosh, Maria Borlaug and Lindsey Kellam. Ali Ward shot a 40 for low gross and Lorrie Keller was low net at 28.5.
Lastly, it's a little bit late, but once again, U.S. Open Sunday was special, not just because it was played at iconic Pebble Beach, or because Gary Woodland is easily one of the most well-liked players on the PGA Tour, but it was Father's Day, and that's always so special for so many. So, though it's a few days past, let me wish all of you a Happy Father's Day.
