From the Courts: Local man charged with rape

A local man has been charged with raping a teenage girl who said she had gone out on her first-ever night of drinking.

JayR Caplette was charged June 11 with a felony count of sexual intercourse without consent.

An arraignment, in which the defendant typically enters his or her initial plea, is scheduled for July 1.

According to charging documents, a man approached Havre police July 5, 2016, to report a girl said she had been raped by Caplette.

The man said the girl, who was 15 at the time, had been pressured by her peers to smoke marijuana and drink alcohol.

When officers interviewed the girl, she said that after driving around drinking and smoking marijuana, they ended up at a trailer or camper with a bonfire burning outside, and the girl eventually went into the camper to lie down.

She said Caplette came in and despite her attempting to push him away and telling him to stop, forced her to have sex with him.
