Hockett Farms captures HYBA Majors title

The Havre Youth Baseball Association continues to hold its city tournaments and this past weekend, the Majors division finished up its season and held its championship game Sunday at Lions Field.

The five-team field was whittled down to a pair of teams Sunday as Hockett Farms, a team coached by Montana State University-Northern basketball coach Shawn Huse, advanced to the championship game to take on Northern Montana Hospital, coached by Brian Jenkins.

The two teams played a tight game earlier in the tournament and met in another competitive affair Sunday. Northern Montana Hospital had a 3-2 lead at one point, needing a win to force the second, title game of the double-elimination tournament since NMH had to win twice to take the city championship. However, Hockett Farms got going offensively with four runs in the fifth and another in the sixth to win 7-3.

Hockett Farms had 11 players and the roster included Evan Baldwin, Noah Barrett, T.J. Brokie, Linkin Cloninger, Easton Davidson, Trey Grey, Matthew Huse, Kash Keller, Logan Kinsella, Bodhy Lassle and Callen Stoner. Bill Keller was an assistant coach.

Northern Montana Hospital, which finished runner-up, was coached by Jenkins and Paul Lemer. The roster featured Tyson Brandon, Jack Gillen, David Huestis, Jevin Jenkins, Reed Mantle, Andrew Olson, Ezra Pyle, Antone Ryder, Cash Schubert, Austin Velk and Chase Whitford.
