Chamber bringing Biz and Brews to Havre in August

Havre Area Chamber of Commerce is introducing a new event this summer to bring people in to shop and taste new local brews and spirits.

Chamber’s Events Committee has announced the first Biz and Brews, which is intended to become an annual event and will take place this summer. Saturday, Aug. 10, businesses will partner with the local breweries and distilleries to offer drinks during stops at participating Chamber businesses.

“I am looking forward to the community banding together to support our local businesses, while having a little bit of fun at the same time,” said Bethany Chinadle, a member of the Events Committee and vice president of the Chamber’s Executive Committee.

She said the “brew” side of the event will feature beverages from Triple Dog Brewing Co., Old Station Brewing Co., Viszla Brewing and Crawford Distillery.

Chinadle said the goal of the event is to encourage people to shop and explore what the businesses of Havre have to offer. The day is dedicated to cheering on and supporting those local businesses that provide their services to the entire Hi-Line. In the years to come, the Chamber Events Committee will try to rotate the businesses around to host that spot.

“We wanted to create a day to promote exploring and shopping your local businesses,” Chinadle said.

Chamber businesses that want to get involved must tell the Chamber so it knows what the business would like to present as their sale or promotion at the event. The Chamber helps promote the campaigns. Community members can get involved by makeing a purchase during the event and receiving raffle tickets which provide a chance to win prize baskets. The more a person shops locally, the better their chance at winning a basket.

“It is a win-win for the area businesses as well as the people who purchase tickets for the event,” Chinadle said.

The idea for the event was put together by the Chamber’s Events Committee to bring more people into Havre, promoting the businesses that are members of the Chamber and bringing more people to these businesses.

The local partnership of the businesses makes Biz and Brews stand out, be unique, amongst other events around town, she said.

Registration and check-in will take place Aug. 10 at Holiday Village Mall starting at 1 p.m. Tickets for Biz and Brews cost $15 and will include a drink glass for the first 250 people. Each ticket has four stops for a drink and coupons from Chamber businesses.

All raffle tickets must be turned in by 4 p.m. into the Elks Club.

“The local businesses are constantly supporting different community events and this is our chance to give back and support them,” Chinadle said. “Biz and Brews would not be possible without the support of our local breweries and distillery as well as the support of our local community business leaders.”
