Children's summer activities series set in Gildford

The Art in the Park summer series kicks off 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Gildford Community Park at the intersection of Seventh Street and Sixth Avenue in Gildford.

During the free event, children can create plaster hand prints and fingerprint stamp art. More art events are planned for 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, and 2-4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2. All events will be held in the Gildford park.

The program has been expanded this year from one event to three thanks to a grant from the Hill County Community Foundation and continued support from the Jolly Janes of Gildford. It began as an enrichment program that families wouldn't have to travel to during harvest season. About 25 kids participated last year and organizers to double participation and incorporate new projects this summer. For more information, call 376-3226.
