Hi-Line Athletes of the Week

L'Tia Lawrence, Harlem Track

Harlem's L'Tia Lawrence has done a lot of special things in her junior season as a Wildcat. And the three-sport star ended the year in style. At last week's Class C state track meet in Laurel, Lawrence won the state championship in the girls 3,200 meters, finishing the race in a time of 11:18.24. Lawrence also finished runner-up in the 1,600 meters, scoring all 18 points for the Wildcats. Lawrence' big year included All-State honors in both cross country and basketball, as well as signing to play hoops for MSU-Northern starting in 2020.

Garrett Diekhans, Fort Benton Track

The Fort Benton boys track team brought home a third-place trophy from the Class C state meet last weekend in Laurel, and while plenty of Longhorns were on the podium, they couldn't have done it without three-sport standout Garrett Diekhans, who placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles, while running a relay leg, as well. Diekhans has been a standout all season long. His junior year included All-Conference honors in football in the fall, and Class C All-State honors in basketball this winter. Diekhans also won a district and divisional title in the hurdles earlier this spring.
